Can-bor® is the inexpensive insurance every log home owner needs. Rot and beetles and termites – oh my! When sprayed or brushed on bare wood, this borate-based log home preservative forms a protective shell to defend against rot and wood-ingesting insects. It’s easy to use and EPA-registered. Can-bor® will not affect the color of wood and is chemically compatible with all of our stains, caulking and chinking products. It costs five times less than its glycol-based counterparts, yet does not sacrifice protection.

Benefits

Can-bor® Professional benefits include:

– Borate-based log home preservative protects against rot and wood-ingesting insects
– Powder concentrate (easy to mix and environmentally friendly)
– Costs 5 times less than glycol-based borate products
– Effective against all types of decay fungi

Easy to Apply: Mix with water in a 5 gallon pail, pour into weed sprayer and spray the wood/logs. Allow to soak in and do not wash off. If doing 2 applications, wait 2 hours in between. Then 2-3 days of good drying weather before staining (under 19% moisture content). Foaming/Flooding is also used for rot repair.

You can either mix a 10% solution or a 15% solution. If you mix the 15% solution, it is just a one coat treatment. If you mix the 10% solution, you do one in the morning and one in the afternoon and you will have the 20% level which is ideal. People do it both ways, but for the cost and how easy it is, we highly recommend the (2) x 10% solution.

One pail does about 2000 sq ft with (2) x 10% solutions or 2700 sq ft with (1) x 15% solution.

One 4L Ready to mix jug does about 140 sq ft with (2) x 10% solutions or 190 sq ft with (1) x 15% solution.

To mix the 10% solution:
120g Canbor (About 333ml or 1.4 cups) + 1L Water= Coverage of about 50 sq ft.
Remember with a 10% solution, you are doing 2 applications with at least 6 hours dry time.

To mix the 15% solution:
180G Canbor (About 500ml or 2 cups)  + 1 L water= Coverage of about 50 sq ft

Where to use

Can-bor® is the inexpensive rot and insect infestation insurance for use on:

-Exterior log and wood surfaces
-Interior log and wood surfaces (optional)

Where Not to use

-Wood coated with any stain, paint or finish.
-Can-bor® will work only when applied to bare wood.

This was very easy to do and not expensive. We just put in weed sprayer and applied and let dry. Great protection for the logs.
