Application Notes

Surface Preparation Requirements

• Inspect all surfaces for defects and remove contamination
• Cut, machine, or shape wood before treatment
• Pressure wash at 2500 PSI and sand if mill glaze is present
• For hand-peeled logs, apply immediately after preparation

Application

• Dilute 1:1 with water before use (do not add Timber-Tec to water)
• Apply by brushing, dipping, spraying, or flood coating
• Apply to saturation; brush out any puddles or runs
• Do not apply in direct sun or heat of day
• Do not apply if rain or freezing temperatures are expected
• Before applying stain or finish: Timber-Tec must be thoroughly removed using Sansin Multi-Wash and a pressure washer (2500–3000 PSI), then allowed to dry. Light sanding is also recommended for best adhesion.

Timber-Tec is intended as a temporary protective pretreatment. After construction, clean surfaces with Sansin Multi-Wash and apply your preferred exterior stain system. Inspect periodically during construction for signs of checking or water absorption. Reapply Timber-Tec if required before final finishing. Do not apply topcoat finishes directly over Timber-Tec without thorough surface prep.
