Tinting vs Staining – Which Should You Use?

Sansin Purity Floor offers two color options: tinting the topcoat or using Purity Interior Stain as a first coat. Each has benefits depending on your project needs.

Option 1: Use Sansin Purity Interior Stain First

Option 2: Tint Purity Floor Directly

Application Notes

• Number of Coats: Apply 2–3 coats. Optional third coat after 24 hours for added protection.
• Surface Prep: Sand with 120–150 grit. Clean thoroughly. Avoid steel wool.
• Application Tools: Brush, lambswool pad, spray, or applicator pad. Stir gently before and during use.
• Dry Time: Touch dry in 30 minutes. Recoat in 4 hours. Full cure in 7 days.
• Sheen Notes: For best clarity when using low lustre or extra low lustre, only use it as your last coat. Your first or second coat should be gloss. Mulitple coats of low lustre and extra low lustre will not be as clear.

What sheen levels are available?

Gloss, Semi-Gloss, Satin, Low Lustre, and Extra Low Lustre. For maximum clarity of your clear coats when using low lustre or extra low lustre, it is best to use Gloss as your intermediate coat. Eg. If you want low lustre and are doing 2 coats, then first coat is gloss, followed by low lustre. If you are doing 3 coats, do 2 coats of gloss followed by low lustre as your last coat. It does make a difference. 

How soon can I walk on the floor?

Light foot traffic after 24 hours. Full cure after 7 days.

Can it be tinted to solid colors?

Yes. Purity Floor can be tinted with Sansin exterior pigments for a solid-hide color finish.

Is it safe for indoor use?
