Sashco Capture Log Stain
Elastic Exterior and Interior Log Stain with Onsite Tinting Option
Sashco Capture is a high-performance water-based stain designed specifically for log homes, timbers, and wood siding. Its unique elastic formula moves with your logs to prevent cracking and peeling, offering unmatched durability and a beautiful finish. Capture is ideal for both interior and exterior vertical surfaces and is always top-coated with Cascade for enhanced water resistance and UV protection. Now with Sashco’s Flex Tint system, contractors and homeowners can tint their stain on-site, eliminating delays and increasing efficiency.
What Makes Sashco Capture Unique?
Sashco Capture sets itself apart with unmatched elasticity, making it resistant to peeling and cracking as logs move and shift over time. It’s designed for all vertical woodwork, interior and exterior, and preserves the wood’s natural glow without hiding the grain. The optional Flex Tint system revolutionizes jobsite convenience—contractors can store neutral base on-hand and tint as needed onsite, eliminating costly delays caused by color changes or miscalculations. Flex Tint delivers consistent results and the same durability as pre-tinted Capture.

Maintenance Required
To refresh Capture’s color and protection, simply clean the surface and apply one coat of Cascade Clear. For uneven fading, spot-coat with Capture, feather the edges, then apply Cascade over the whole surface. Full re-staining is not required if regular maintenance is performed every few years. Inspect logs annually and fill checks wider than 1/4″ with Sashco Conceal or Log Builder.

Stain Calculator
Measured Square Footage
Take each wall and multiply length x height. Example 40' long x 10' high= 400 sq. ft.
Add each wall together Example 400 + 400 + 250 + 250 = 1300 sq. ft.
For each of your gable ends (the triangles) use Base x Height/2
Example 30' x 15' = 450'/2 = 225 sq ft. Add all areas together.
Adjust for Type of Log
A round log has a different surface area than a flat timber. We must account for the curvature and size of the log so we don't end up short on stain. Select your log type
Maintenance Coat
Most maintenance coats are done with one coat, often clear. If you plan to add a coat of color and a clear, feel free to ask one of our specialists for some advice.
Surface Condition
Rough logs will take more stain than smooth logs. If your logs are rough, check off the box and it will calculate based on a rough surface.
Note: All calculations are estimated. Actual coverage will vary based on surface condition, species and moisture content.

This stuff is incredible and as stretchy as they show in the video. We read the head to head testing, read all the reviews on this and we have to say we are very impressed with it. We had Capture/Cascade on our last home and decided to go with it again as it lasted very long and was super easy and inexpensive to maintain. Great product!

Very, very, very happy!! We used this on our interior logs and couldn’t be happier how it turned out. We put the Symphony clear coat on top and it turned out AWESOME. This was the nicest stain we have ever used.
