It is critical to use a high quality log home caulking on your home if you expect it to work and last a lifetime. If you cheap out or use a product not designed for log…expect failure. Sashco log home caulking was built for logs and timbers….period. It is a favorite of contractors world wide as it is very easy to work with and the performance is second to none. Choose carefully as you do not want to be doing this over again in a couple of years because you chose the wrong log home caulking!
Let us say it again….caulking designed for wood is not made for logs! We can’t emphasize this enough….silicone or similar will fail!

Sashco Log Jam Chinking– Designed to stretch multiple times the original joint size without tearing. Mortar-like finish. 8 Colors available and samples
Perma-Chink Chinking– Designed to stretch multiple times the original joint size without tearing. Mortar-like finish. 8 Colors available and samples
Sashco Conceal Textured Log Caulking– Similar formula to chinking, but with less aggregate in it giving it a wood-like finish. Can also be used to chink if joints are less than 2″
Perma-Chink Energy Seal Textured Log Caulking– Similar formula to chinking, but with less aggregate in it giving it a wood-like finish. Can also be used to chink if joints are less than 2″
Sashco Log Builder Caulking– Similar formula to chinking/caulking, but with NO aggregate in it giving it a smooth finish. Doesn’t take stain as well as the textured caulking or chinking.
Perma-Chink Check Mate 2– Similar formula to chinking/caulking, but with NO aggregate in it giving it a smooth finish. Doesn’t take stain as well as the textured caulking or chinking.

Grip Strip
Grip Strip is a bond breaker used to make sure that your caulking makes a 2 point connection (to the top and bottom of the check). This is very important to allow the caulking to stretch. If you don't use Grip Strip, it makes a 3 point connection and creates an anchor point where the caulking will tear when the logs move. It also prevents you from using too much caulking or chink and keeps your costs way down.
